Ho, ho, ho…
Shake up the happiness
Wake up the happiness
Shake up the happiness
It’s Christmas time
There was a story that I was told
And I want to tell the world before I get too old
And don’t remember it, so let’s December it
And reassemble it, oh yeah
Once upon a time in a town like this
A little girl made a great big wish
To fill the world full of happiness
And be on Santa’s magic list
Shake it up, shake up the happiness
Wake it up, wake up the happiness
Come on all, it’s Christmas time
Shake it up, shake up the happiness
Wake it up, wake up the happiness
Come on all, it’s Christmas time
Ho, ho, ho,
Ho, ho, ho,
It’s Christmas time
At the same town miles away
A little boy made a wish that day
That the world would be okay
And Santa Clause would hear him say
I got dreams and I got love
I got my feet on the ground and family above
Can you send some happiness with my best
To the rest of the people of east and the west
And maybe every once in a while
You give my a grandma a reason to smile
‘Tis the season to smile
It’s cold but we’ll be freezing in style
And let me meet a girl one day
That wants to spread some love this way
We can let our souls run free
And she can open some happiness with me
Shake it up, shake up the happiness
Wake it up, wake up the happiness
Come on all, it’s Christmas time
Shake it up, shake up the happiness
Wake it up, wake up the happiness
Come on all, it’s Christmas time
I know you’re out there
I hear your reindeer
I see the snow wear
Your boots have been
I’m gonna show them
So they will know then
Then love will grow in
They believe again
Shake it up (shake it up), shake up the happiness
Wake it up, wake up the happiness
Come on all, it’s Christmas time
Shake it up, shake up the happiness
Wake it up, wake up the happiness
Come on all, it’s Christmas time
Ho, ho, ho,
Ho, ho, ho,
It’s Christmas time
Shake it up, shake up the happiness
Wake it up, wake up the happiness
Come on all, it’s Christmas time
Shake it up, shake up the happiness
Wake it up, wake up the happiness
Come on all, it’s Christmas time
Ho, ho, ho,
Ho, ho, ho,
Ho, ho, ho,
It’s Christmas time

Westside Parkway to Hwy 99 – Temporary Transition – Short Version

Views:129|Rating:5.00|View Time:7:17Minutes|Likes:1|Dislikes:0
While still in the moment of having a temporary transition between the Westside Parkway and Highway 99, I thought I would archive this somewhat odd and awkward transition while it still exists. The urban planners of Bakersfield have been talking about an East-West freeway from about as long as I’ve been passing through the area (1996), and probably longer.

The issue is that there really is no good way to get from Bakersfield over to Interstate 5. There are smaller, one-lane roads such as Panama Lane, Stockdale Highway, Rosedale Highway (also known as Highway 58), 7th Standard Road (named because it is the 7th Standard parallel from Mt. Diablo…for more info on that subject, look up “Standard Parallels In Surveying” on the Internet), Lardo Highway, and to the very north of the area, Highway 46.

However, each of those roads is mostly two-lane (Lardo Highway being the exception west of Highway 43), and they do not handle a lot of traffic very well, let alone the massive number of big rigs that have to go in and out of Bakersfield hourly.

As an answer to this problem, the City of Bakersfield now has the Westside Parkway. It starts from Truxtun Avenue west of Highway 99 and travels about a mile and a half past Allen Road to it’s western terminus, where it merges into Stockdale Highway.

I believe that the plan is to extend the Westside Parkway east to Highway 99 via a large bridge. And I suspect that it is this highway, soon to be turned into a freeway once they make the required improvements needed to qualify as part of the California State Highway System, that will also continue west and connect to Interstate 5 someday. And as an aside, Highway 99 will likely be improved and turned into an Interstate Highway (maybe numbered 7 or 9 someday).

Therefore, in the long version of this video (you’re watching the short version), I have started driving well outside of the limits of the City of Bakersfield in the small town of Buttonwillow along Interstate 5, and have driven down turning east onto Stockdale Highway, joined the Westside Parkway at it’s beginning, then have driven the odd transition onto Highway 99, ending at Herring Road. I’ve then driven it all back as well. Once the highways have been connected and grown, it will be nice to have this video as a means to look back in posterity.

I have chosen to start and end (the long version of) this video well outside of the immediate area of Bakersfield to show where on this date (2/19/2018), there are still open fields and such, to give my video a bit more context of location. I have sped up the video to both save time and to help get a better overall sense of the topography involved, which is almost all flat. I love this kind of stuff. I hope that you enjoy the video.

Exact Route:
-Stockdale Highway east to beginning of Westside Parkway
-Westside Parkway to terminus at Truxtun Avenue
-Truxtun Avenue East to Oak Street
-Oak Street South to California Avenue
-California Avenue South to Highway 99 South

For the second half of the video, I take the exact route backwards (north and west respectively)

Please support all of these artists’ legacies by buying their music on any of the various music purchasing platforms. I know I did.
