During the Unalaska Memorial Day ceremony the Mayor reads those of us on the island who lost family or friend. Gerry Spinelli was a good friend of mine. Gerry was a big help to providing a place to stay for those who needed emergency shelter in Unalaska, AK.

The community of Unalaska celebrated the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday. Last year we participated with www.uptofaith.com and had a blast. This year we wanted to do another community dance to celebrate the resurrection and found what the Second Baptist Church in Houston, TX had done last year.

Rise Up sung by Laruen James Camey and produced by Joshua Moore. Voice over by Lyle Countryman. Song is available on iTunes:

Took the camera on a trip to Akutan from the Dutch Harbor airport – on a nice day! Flew over in a Grumman Goose and took a boat ride back the following day. Some Akutan village footage and some Church footage, ate in the Trident Seafoods Galley, tried on a survival suit, and some boat footage. Great view of the Aleutian Islands that we are flying by.

That was my first trip to Aleutian Islands from August 12 to August 15, 2010 and I was impressed by the nature and beautiful, amazing landscape of this increadible island. Population is about 5,000 people. I’ve meat a lot of people from Vietnam and Phillipines living and working there besides locals and others who moved to Dutch Harbor for big bucks. The place just breathtaking, island surrounded by lovely mountains and gorgeous Bering Sea. Not a lot of people come here for holidays or vacation but for me it was an escape from noisy, crazy and poluted Los Angeles. I had a peaceful and quite time by touring this island alone. In the past Aleutian Islands as well as the rest of Alaska were part of Emperial Russia and Russian Orthodox Church just resembles the history of once to be the Russian America.
