Some highlights of Salt Lake City. A place with beautiful mountains and buildings. Definitely a place worth visiting.
‘Salt Lake City is the capital and the most populous municipality of the U.S. state of Utah. With an estimated population of 190,884 in 2014, the city is the core of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, which has a population of 1,153,340 (2014 estimate). Salt Lake City is further situated within a larger metropolis known as the Salt Lake City–Ogden–Provo Combined Statistical Area. This region is a corridor of contiguous urban and suburban development stretched along an approximately 120-mile (190 km) segment of the Wasatch Front, comprising a population of 2,423,912 as of 2014. It is one of only two major urban areas in the Great Basin (the other is Reno, Nevada).
The world headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) is located in Salt Lake City and the city’s street grid system is based on the temple constructed by the Church at its center. The city was originally founded in 1847 by Brigham Young, and other followers of the Church, who were seeking to escape religious persecution in the mid-western United States. These Mormon pioneers, as they would come to be known, at first encountered an arid, inhospitable valley that they then extensively irrigated and cultivated, thereby establishing the foundation to sustain the area’s large population of today.
Due to its proximity to the Great Salt Lake, the city was originally named “Great Salt Lake City”; however, the word “great” was dropped from the official name in 1868 by the 17th Utah Territorial Legislature.
Immigration of international LDS members, mining booms, and the construction of the first transcontinental railroad initially brought economic growth, and the city was nicknamed the Crossroads of the West. It was traversed by the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental highway, in 1913, and presently two major cross-country freeways, I-15 and I-80, intersect in the city. Salt Lake City has since developed a strong outdoor recreation tourist industry based primarily on skiing, and hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. It is the industrial banking center of the United States’

Welcome to the fourth and last day of our Utah Road-trip. The day was all about exploring Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake City is known as the high-elevation capital of Utah, and is bordered by the buoyant waters of the Great Salt Lake and the snow-capped peaks of the Wasatch Range. We explored the city’s downtown’s 10-acre park known as Temple Square, headquarters of the Mormon Church, and home to the majestic, 19th-century Salt Lake Temple and the neo-Gothic Assembly Hall.
We also visited the Visitor Center across the street from the capital building. We then took a small trip to Ensing Peak Nature Park, where I attempted to fly my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced drone but, not long after I took off I crashed my DJI Drone into a rock. A friendly couple was able to recover the drone and when I got a look at it, it was not a pretty sight the phantom was totaled and the Camera gimble was not longer attached. This was the last flight my Drone every took. RIP!
The drone crash really got me upset but, soon after I pulled my self together and we continued exploring the beautiful city of Salt Lake. We then headed to another park jut outside of the city called Antelope Island State Park, an area of 42 square miles, and the largest of 10 islands located within the Great Salt Lakes in Utah. We got a view of the lake and also got to see wild bison. I even got real close to a buffalo and was able to get some awesome pictures for my instagram. Check out my buffalo/bison pictures on my instagram @DJBarrNJ.
We concluded our day in Salt Lake by having a great steak dinner at a restaurant in “The Gateway” called Tucanos Brazilian Grill. This restaurant was incredible you are ever in salt lake city you should visit Tucanos Brazilian Grill. The Service and food was incredible.

The city of Santa Fe was founded in 1610, and El San Miguel (St. Michael’s) Mission Church was built between 1610 and and 1628. It is the oldest church still in use in the United States, this simple adobe structure was built by the Tlaxcalan Indians of Mexico, who came to New Mexico as servants of the Spanish. Badly damaged in the Pueblo Revolt of 1680, the church vigas in the ceiling were burned, and in 1692 De Vargas ordered the church rebuilt.
In 1859 the church served as the chapel for the newly arrived Christian Brothers who took over control of St. Michael’s School. In 1881 the Christian Brothers purchased the church, a recently completed school building, an adobe building and the land upon which they were situated from the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.
Since its creation, San Miguel has been used as a chapel and shrine to St. Michael, a military chapel, an oratory for the Christian Brothers, a school chapel and a barrio church. Today, in addition to being an historical treasure, cultural heritage and tourist attraction, it still serves as a shrine to St. Michael and a chapel where Mass is celebrated weekly
Some of the features of San Miquel Mission are:
Reredos – The reredos or altar screen dates from 1798 and is the oldest wooden reredos in New Mexico.
St. Michael the Archangel Statue – The carved gilded and painted wood statue of St. Michael the Archangel celebrates his victory over Satan and dates from at least 1709 when it was brought from Mexico. It occupies the center niche in the reredos.
The San Jose Bell – The bronze bell situated in the gift shop once hung in the bell tower. There is some speculation that it was cast in 1856 in the Parroquia in Santa Fe or in Cerrillos in 1836.

We wanted to show you how the Corpus Christy Celebration looks like in Krakow, Poland. The procession started at 9am at the Wawel Castle and followed the Royal Route to the Main Market Square. The Corpus Christi procession is conducted in every church in Poland on that feast. The procession with the Most Blessed Sacrament is stopping at 4 temporarily prepared altars (usually by various communities). Catholics in Poland are eagerly participating in those processions, as the demonstration of their faith and respect to the Christ present in the Eucharist.
We invite you to:
