Bodycam Shows Fatal Police Shooting in Charlotte, North Carolina

Views:1980102|Rating:4.70|View Time:20:39Minutes|Likes:14316|Dislikes:926
** (Disclaimer: Video posted strictly for educational and information purposes only) **
Charlotte, North Carolina – Two CMPD officers will not face charges for a March shooting that killed a man armed with shotgun that may have been experiencing a mental episode. District Attorney Andrew Murray released a 175 page report Thursday detailing his offices findings in the death of Iarsalov Mosiiuk. The release coincided with a previously scheduled hearing where Mosiiuk’s family and social action group, Safe Coalition, requested the release of the body camera footage from the two officers involved. “We would like the full un-redacted copy of the body worn camera,” said Lauren Newton, attorney for Mosiiuk’s family. Mosiiuk’s sister, Oleysa Tabaka sat behind her attorney in the courtroom. Tabaka has viewed the footage, but said it is important that is released to the public. “We’d like everyone to keep in mind that at the end of the day this was a mental health call, and if this is the way that mental health calls are handled, people will be afraid to call the police,” said Newton. Tabaka said she called 911 for help after her brother threatened to kill himself and had gotten a hold of her fiance’s gun.

According to the DA’s report, Tabaka screamed at responding officers, “please don’t shoot him,” “don’t kill him,” “he’s just being crazy.” The investigation later determined the gun was loaded, but missing a bolt, rendering it inoperable. However, Michael Greene, the attorney representing Officer Brian Walsh, says his client had no choice but to fire what would be the fatal shot. “That gun doesn’t have mental health issues, the person may have but he still has a firearm and if the family knew that my question would be why didn’t they secure the weapon,” he said. The DA’s report included images from Officer Walsh’s body cam. A person can be seen in the distance. Investigators say it was Mosiiuk with a long gun pointed at Walsh’s partner, Officer Michael Dezenzo. ‘He sees the deceased in an actual shooting position with the gun pointed towards his partner,” said District Attorney Murray. “Him making sure that he neutralized the threat to protect his partner and the civilians and himself. A long gun that size would go through a vehicle quickly,” he declared. The end of the criminal case, cleared the way for the release of the video to both the family and Safe Coalition.

CMPD says it will release the video also. “It there’s no longer a pending investigation we will not object to release,” said CMPD attorney Jessica Battle. Internal investigations are still pending. CMPD has not said if either responding officer received crisis intervention training to address mental health calls. However, Officer Dezenso’s attorney, Daniel Roberts says his client, a 16-year veteran with CMPD is looking forward to continuing his career with the department. Roberts also says the video will show that Officer Walsh saved his client’s life. “Mike Dezenso was very eager for the video being released so it could be shown what Officer Walsh did for him,” he said. However, Mosiiuk’s family says a call for help, didn’t have to end like this. “Why this was handled the way it was when it was a mental health call to begin with,” Newton declared.

Police dash cam shows Arizona cop cruiser ramming armed suspect Mario Valencia

A recently released video from a police car dashcam shows the moment where an Arizona police officer rams his cruiser into armed suspect Mario Valencia.

Valencia fled a Walmart in Marana, where he had allegedly stolen a rifle on February 19. Marana police later intercepted Valencia in front of a post office near the Walmart. Instead of surrendering, Valencia pointed the rifle at his head and threatened to commit suicide. He then fired the rifle in another direction and fled.

Marana police pursued Valencia toward Continental Ranch Self Storage, where an officer then hit Valencia with his police cruiser. Valencia was taken to the University of Arizona Medical Center in serious condition and was hospitalized for two days.

According to CBS5, Valencia may be responsible for several crimes in the Tucson area including robbing a 7/11, a break-in and fire at a church and a home invasion.

Shocking video shows brazen shooting in broad daylight in Fairfield

Views:331493|Rating:3.57|View Time:50Minutes|Likes:275|Dislikes:110
Warning: graphic content:
A 28-year-old man gunned down at a Fairfield gas station in March was apparently killed in a dispute over an engagement ring, and the brutal shooting was captured on store surveillance video.
Adarius Elon Williams, a father of four who celebrated a birthday the day before he was killed, died April 8 in the parking lot of the Citgo station on Milstead Road. Vincent Washington, 25, and Barbara Washington, 31, are charged with murder in Williams’ death. Additionally, Vincent Washington is charged with first-degree kidnapping because the woman who drove him to the gas station said she wanted to leave, and he threatened her with her life.
The Washington siblings, who lost their own sister to murder last year, are set to be in court this afternoon for their preliminary hearings. AL.com has obtained the store surveillance video of the killing, which shows a man with a towel wrapped around his head – identified by police as Vincent Washington – shoot Williams multiple times, nine of those shots fired almost point-blank after while Williams had already collapsed on the ground. Police have said Williams was not armed. According to police and court records, the brother and sister told a friend of Barbara Washington they would buy her gas if she drove them to the Citgo station that day. They were going to meet Williams because he wanted the engagement ring back that he had given to Barbara Washington. Williams’ fiancé at the time of his death was also with him at the gas station the day he was killed.
The friend drove them to the service station, but told police she didn’t know what was going to happen. Once they arrived there, Vincent Washington got out of the car with a towel wrapped around his head. When the friend realized something was amiss, she said she wanted to leave. At that point, according to court records, Vincent Washington told her, “(Expletive), if you drive off I’ll shoot you in the back of the head.”
The friend said she was afraid, and did what she was told to do. The video shows Washington and Williams arguing outside of the vehicle for about 12 seconds, and then Washington opens fire on Williams. Williams fell to the ground on his back, and Washington stood over him and fired nine more shots.
Witnesses on the scene gave a description of a white Nissan Altima leaving the area. They said the vehicle was occupied by two females and a male. A short time later, Bessemer police said, a man suffering from gunshot wounds to the stomach and the hand showed up at UAB West, and a white vehicle reportedly had brought him there.
Authorities confirmed that man – later identified as Vincent Washington – at the hospital was involved in the Fairfield shooting. About 8 p.m., Fairfield police spotted the white Altima and stopped the vehicle. Barbara Washington and another woman were taken into custody. The second woman wasn’t charged.
After the shooting, according to court records, Barbara Washington took the gun used in the slaying to a friend’s house to hide it.
At some point during the incident, Vincent Washington was also shot by someone trying to help Williams. Police have never said who shot the suspect. He spent several days in the hospital before he was released and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. Both of the siblings have remained jailed since then with bond set at $60,000.
Bill Veitch, the district attorney in Jefferson County’s Bessemer Cutoff, confirmed he has seen the video and said it shows the urgency needed in stopping the violence. “Any of us could have been out there at those gas pumps that day,’’ Veitch said. “This war on violence cannot be won unless the communities unite, tear down the walls that have built between us and see, hear and report.”
“It’s going to take a great deal of individual courage to become involved in this struggle,’’ he said. “Join with me and our law enforcement officers, our churches, our judges, to fight these heartless hoodlums. This video is graphic evidence of how great this epidemic has become.”
