Reginald Bernard checks back in with guest host Robyn Lea to discuss the weekend’s coming events and the impetus for the event itself.
The Black Family Weekend is open to all families of all races, but particularly focuses it’s attention on the plight of the black family, a family that, according to Rev. Bernard, is in crisis and is in need of resurrection.
The weekend’s activities begin with a banquet on Friday evening with guest speaker Robert Walker, a former Vicksburg mayor.
Saturday sees a Christian parade to start the day (9:00 a.m.) in historic downtown Vicksburg and concludes with an afternoon (3:00 p.m.) picnic on the grounds of the future site of KSBC at Hwy 61 and Oak Ridge Road.
The weekend will wrap up on Sunday with two services at King Solomon Baptist Church on Farmer Street. The “Sunrise” service (8:15 a.m.) will see a traditional Easter service and message, with several church members being baptized. The 11 a.m. service will also feature a traditional Easter message but will feature a combined wedding ceremony.
Everyone is invited to attend, but first, you should hear what Rev. Bernard has to say about KSBC and the Black Family Weekend. Get you a good hot cup of java and get ready to enjoy Coffee with Rev. Reginald Bernard.
