We welcome your comments on the open blog thread for this show.

YouTube comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we’ve tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of YouTube comment sections, in our experience.

We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are “officially” associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don’t actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.

The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Dr. Frank E. Ray, Sr. Biography
Dr. Frank E. Ray, Sr. is one of America’s most respected Bible teachers. He has traveled the length and breadth of this country, spreading the gospel and fulfilling his commitment to bringing souls to Jesus Christ, and for more than three decades, Pastor Ray has been the under-shepherd of the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, “The Church Where the Spirit Meets the Soul.”
In 1972, at the age of 25, God sent Pastor Frank Edward Ray, to New Salem Baptist Church, from Arlington, Tennessee, a small town outside of Memphis, and he has been tirelessly saving souls ever since. Under his leadership, the church has experienced phenomenal growth by expanding its membership from 50 members to 5,000 members, implementing 40 ministries, and moving to a super structure adjacent to the previous location. The new facility houses a sanctuary, banquet hall, Family Life Recreational Center, prayer center, audio and video media ministry, an indoor gymnasium, a book store and classrooms.

The ministry of Dr. Frank Ray has spanned over 36 years since God miraculously anointed him to preach the gospel. He is a much sought-after evangelist and Bible teacher for crusades, revivals, and conferences.

Often referred to as “The Walking Bible”, he preaches the word of God with spirit-filled and scriptural simplicity. Today the scope of “God Is Good Ministries” is worldwide. His radio and television ministry is touching thousands of lives throughout the United Sates and around the world.

His leadership skills and constant study of God’s Word has earned him numerous honors and awards. He was appointed by Dr. W. J. Shaw, former President of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., to serve as chairman of the “Late Night Services”. In July 2002, he launched the first Frank Ray Expository Preaching, Teaching and Church Growth Conference. The New Salem church family is excited about what God is doing in this ministry as He continues to speak through this anointed man of God.

Through Dr. Ray’s teaching and preaching many have entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, while others have had their faith strengthened. After hearing and receiving the message from this man of God, you will not be the same.

W B Ray Corpus Christi 1977 UFO abduction Eddie Stakes

This is a high school project from Miss Whitmires class of 1977 W. B Ray high school, Corpus Christi, Texas. I do not remember the names of the cameraman, but believe the big UFO guy is John Rodriguez. The girl who gets ‘abducted’ is Betty Ratzesch. That is my brothers Tommy Stakes Pontiac Firebird 400 near end of film. I thought my 70 AMC Javelin appeared in this short but didn’t see it. I have owned almost 400 AMCs since that first car & still drive them, you can visit my site at www.planethoustonamx.com

The UFO bit was my idea as I used to collect UFO books. I do not remember the actual class name Miss Whitmire taught but believe it to be Social Studies. She was a challenging teacher and one my favorites of which all of them were great until I got kicked out (expelled!) of Ray with 3 months to go for skipping class. So Mister Funk was a assistant principal was uh, not one of my favorites. But Padre Island was only 10 minutes away and I spent a lot of time there in senior year. And was A & B HONOR ROLL student despite missing classes to go to Padre.

God Bless all the teachers and faculty at W. B. Ray High School

If anyone can ID the big UFO guy here and the film is grainy and tired (it’s on dvd now, it was 8mm film at time) feel free to contact me. Go Texans. There is no sound. That was my Frisbee thrown in film. Dog kept jumping in water at North Beach. I am the skinny fellow with antennas in head, John, other UFO guy. Several of us were stoned, but got out of about 2 hours of classes. Filmed between Emerald Beach & Cole Park on Shoreline at Ocean Drive, then scenes switch to ‘alien world’ back bay of North Beach tidal flats over harbor bridge. No one got anal probe.
