Question and Answer Session – Ravi Zacharias and Abdu Murray at the University of Kentucky

On Wednesday, February 24, 2016 Christian apologist and author Ravi Zacharias addressed the University of Kentucky campus and community at an open forum on the theme of “Life’s Four Big Questions.”

The event was held at Memorial Coliseum and Zacharias was joined by RZIM North American Director Abdu Murray, a former Muslim and author of “Grand Central Question: Answering the Critical Concerns of the Major Worldviews”, for this Q&A session following the lecture.

The questions were:

– When debating atheists, how do you convince them that God exists without using the Bible as a source?

– Why did God put the tree in the Garden of Eden to begin with? He ultimately knew what decision Adam and Eve would make. Makes it seem like one big social experiment.

– Question from Twitter: Am I a bad person for questioning or doubting my faith?

– Does God favor one gender over the other?

– I’ve been taught that the most important thing about Jesus is his death. I’m wondering how true that is.

Bruce Jenner & the Transgender Question

Commenting on the recent Bruce Jenner “gender reassignment” issue, Father Mike Schmitz discusses the difference between one’s perception of gender and gender reality. Gender stereotypes have altered our perception of what it means to be a man or a woman, but it is unhealthy to expect reality to conform to our perceptions. If there is someone in your life struggling with gender identity, or any other brokenness, Father Mike encourages you to be there for them.

We welcome your comments on the open blog thread for this show.

YouTube comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we’ve tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of YouTube comment sections, in our experience.

We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are “officially” associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don’t actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

C Dale Jackson Introduction Question 1

Views:0|Rating:0.00|View Time:1:38Minutes|Likes:|Dislikes:
Introduction Question 1

This is question one, the introduction. My name is Dale Jackson. I was ordained in 1995. I attended Global Presbyterian Theological Seminary, obviously, in Louisville, Kentucky. Since that time, I have mostly been active in pastoral service with a brief break of about three years several years ago. I married my husband eight years ago at a service in Hawaii. At the time, it was a civil union, but now we have changed that.
I have served since ordination, mostly small membership churches. I’ve served churches in Missouri, just west of St. Louis. I served a church in … a small church in Indiana, part-time. I’ve served a church just west of St. Louis in Illinois. Currently I’m serving at Riverside Presbyterian Church, which is a near-west suburb of Chicago. I also spent two, two-and-a-half years serving at the denominational headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. Part of the time I was associate for small church development and part of the time I worked for the Presbyterian Association of Musicians.
