“Resources and growth of the Far West.”

Reupload of a previously uploaded film with improved video & sound.

Originally a public domain film from the Library of Congress Prelinger Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied.
The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original).

California (kæləˈfɔrnjə/) is a state located on the West Coast of the United States. It is the most populous U.S. state, and the third most extensive (after Alaska and Texas). It is home to the nation’s second and sixth largest census statistical areas (Greater Los Angeles area and San Francisco Bay Area, respectively), and eight of the nation’s 50 most populated cities (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach, and Oakland). The capital city is Sacramento.

California’s diverse geography ranges from the Pacific Coast in the west, to the Sierra Nevada mountains in the east — from the Redwood–Douglas-fir forests of the northwest, to the Mojave Desert areas in the southeast. The center of the state is dominated by Central Valley, a major agricultural area. California contains both the highest and lowest points in the contiguous United States (Mount Whitney and Death Valley), and has the 3rd longest coastline of all states (after Alaska and Florida). Earthquakes are a common occurrence due to the state’s location along the Pacific Ring of Fire: about 37,000 are recorded annually…

Oregon (ɔrɨɡən/ ORR-ə-gən) is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is located on the Pacific coast, with Washington to the north, California to the south, Nevada on the southeast and Idaho to the east. The Columbia and Snake rivers delineate much of Oregon’s northern and eastern boundaries, respectively. The area was inhabited by many indigenous tribes before the arrival of traders, explorers, and settlers who formed an autonomous government in Oregon Country in 1843. The Oregon Territory was created in 1848, and Oregon became the 33rd state on February 14, 1859…

Washington (wɒʃɪŋtən/) is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States located north of Oregon, west of Idaho and south of the Canadian province of British Columbia, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Washington was carved out of the western part of Washington Territory which had been ceded by Britain in 1846 by the Oregon Treaty as settlement of the Oregon Boundary Dispute. It was admitted to the Union as the 42nd state in 1889…

Nevada (nəˈvædə/) is a state in the western, mountain west, and southwestern regions of the United States. Nevada is the 7th most extensive, the 35th most populous, and the 9th least densely populated of the 50 United States. Over two-thirds of Nevada’s people live in one single county, Clark County, which contains the Las Vegas–Paradise metropolitan area, where the state’s three largest incorporated cities are located. Nevada’s capital is Carson City. Nevada is officially known as the “Silver State” due to the importance of silver to its history and economy. It is also known as the “Battle Born State” because it achieved statehood during the Civil War and the “Sagebrush State” for the native eponymous plant…

Dipping in a Natural Hot Spring in Alkaline (Near Goldfield, Nevada – It’s FREE!)

A secluded natural hot spring in Alkaline, NV! Great place to have a beer under the stars!

A hot spring is a spring produced by the emergence of geothermally heated groundwater that rises from the Earth’s crust. There are geothermal hot springs in many locations all over the crust of the earth. While some of these springs contain water that is a safe temperature for bathing, others are so hot that immersion can result in injury or death.

Because heated water can hold more dissolved solids than cold water, warm and especially hot springs often have very high mineral content, containing everything from simple calcium to lithium, and even radium. Because of both the folklore and the claimed medical value some of these springs have, they are often popular tourist destinations, and locations for rehabilitation clinics for those with disabilities.

Pastor describes Stephen Paddock’s sin nature after Las Vegas shooting

At Discovery Church in North Las Vegas, Pastor Dean Sanner preached after an already long week.

Sanner doubles as a local police chaplain. On the evening of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting, Sanner was called to duty and stayed in the hospital all night. He prayed with a young woman who was shot, the daughter of a police officer. He comforted another officer who had been shot in the neck.

The church’s congregants prayed for God’s healing power for the injured and wisdom for their doctors.

Sanner told attendees that authorities wouldn’t be able to explain the shooter’s motives. Until the massacre, Stephen Paddock appeared to be doing good, he said. Paddock paid off a gambling debt, he gave his girlfriend $100,000, and he sent her on a trip.

“Man is evil at its core, make no mistake about it,” Sanner declared. “God’s Word tells us that we are born into sin. Oh, can we do good things? We can, just like the shooter did… Just because somebody does good things doesn’t mean they don’t have a sin nature… It’s not until we get Christ in our heart that He begins to eradicate that and clean us up.”

Strange Creepy Town Near Area 51 – Semi Abandoned Town in Nevada Desert – The REAL Loneliest Road!

I decided to finally take a remote back-road “trick route” I’d always wanted to try bypassing Tonopah on the way up from Las Vegas to Reno, Nevada. Wow, what a strange trip! A little single lane road in the middle of nowhere complete with a bizarre, sort of spooky and creepy (in a way), semi-ghost town! One of the oddest abandoned places we’ve seen in our years of desert travel. In over 2 hours of driving we saw not ONE other car…nor a single human being. Even when driving through the little town itself. Abandoned cars, trucks..even abandoned soda machines! But not a soul did we see! Haha..I thought being so close to area 51…maybe the aliens abducted everyone! Looks kinda like Fallout New Vegas or Nuketown. a scene straight from GTA! This is why we LOVE Nevada!! No place like it on Earth! ~Kenneth King Bear

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Capt. Kevin Malone told the Reno Gazette-Journal that two bodies were found at Bog Hot Springs on Sunday, near the Oregon border.
The deputies are investigating whether they died because the spring water was too hot.
Nevada is home to hundreds of hot springs ranging in temperature from warm to scalding.
Deputies say the bodies were found after a friend conducted a search. The cause of death is still being investigated. Foul play is not suspected.
