Old Town comprises about ten blocks of historic adobe buildings, which surround Old Town Plaza. (Plazas were a common feature of Spanish colonial towns.) On the plaza’s north side stands San Felipe de Neri Church, a Spanish colonial church constructed in the 18th century.
Old Town was assimilated into the city of Albuquerque (“New Town”) in the 1940s; today, it is a shopping and tourist destination. Many of the buildings in Old Town are residences that were converted into restaurants, shops, and art galleries. Bands play in the plaza’s gazebo. During the Christmas and holiday season, thousands of luminarias (paper lanterns) line the streets and walkways.
The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, and the Explora science center are northeast of Old Town.

Shortly after 8 p.m., a Rio Rancho police officer pulled over a man and a woman in a 1999 Dodge Durango. The suspects fled and wound up in the parking lot of the Esther Bone Memorial Library according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department.
Police say someone called out “officer shot” over the radio and witness described hearing four gunshots and seeing a man giving CPR to the officer and a woman was sitting on the curb next to them.
“There was four shots, just went pop, pop, pop, pop—four real quick shots. And I was looking that direction, you know right away… it’s like, where’s it coming from, and then I looked a little bit closer to me, and then that’s when I saw the actual person giving him CPR and some dude laying on the ground,” 15-year-old Elijah Ortiz Y Pino said to KOB-TV.
The officer was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the Rio Rancho Police Department confirmed early Tuesday morning.
Police have yet to release the name of the police officer, but said he was 49-years-old and a married father-of-five. He had been a police officer for four years and also an Air Force veteran.
No further details have been released and the Rio Rancho Police Department said this is the first time an officer has been shot and killed in the line of duty in the department’s history.

This Animation is a rendering of my model of the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple. I like the spire on this Temple, it has a different feel. It is less of a “look up to heaven” , and more of a pedestal for the Angel Moroni Statue. So I had to make an Angel Moroni Statue. Just a Simple one.
This is the first of many models I will upload of already Dedicated Temples. There will still be models of Announced Temples as well.
