“That was a great play by Allen,” Pistons coach Michael Curry said. “He hadn’t had much going for him in the first three quarters, but then he took over the game.”
Detroit have taken eight straight against the Thunder, and haven’t lost to the franchise at home since the former Seattle SuperSonics won 93-72 on Dec. 12, 2003. The Pistons didn’t have an easy time Friday, though, as they struggled to beat Oklahoma City (3-27).

Manisha Koirala is well known for her acting prowess and her ethereal looks which easily pull at audience heartstrings. However, what many may not know about this Nepalese beauty is her quiet confidence and graceful strength which have enabled her rise to success in Bollywood and work in critically acclaimed movies with directors such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Subhash Ghai and Mani Ratnam. Manisha also had her fair share of ups and downs, but it was the diagnosis of cancer in 2012 which caused her to pause and introspect her life deeply. Perhaps it was this very introspection which gave Manisha new goals and motivated her to rise and shine through trying times.

It was first released in the United States and Canada early in the year, and rose to number one in America by March 2. An earlier recording appeared on The Kingston Trio’s 1963 album, Time to Think. The song had also been done by English band The Fortunes in 1968, and by Pearls Before Swine in 1970/71.
The song was based on “Le Moribond” (“The Dying Man”), written by Jacques Brel in 1961. Brel’s song was translated into English by poet Rod McKuen and this version was first recorded by Bob Shane of the Kingston Trio, but it did not sell. The Beach Boys also recorded the song but it was never released.
Terry Jacks, who had participated in the Beach Boys recording, and who had in fact introduced the song to the group, rewrote part of the lyrics to “lighten them up.” Jacks’ revisions tended to add a bit of ambiguity as to the nature of the storyteller’s demise, allowing listeners the option to choose whether the death is from suicide over a failed life – quite possibly to escape drug addiction – or someone accepting death from natural causes, or cancer. References to a cheating wife were also removed.

American jazz trumpeter and singer Chet Baker became a star on the strength of such songs as “My Funny Valentine” before his career was derailed by drug use.
Jazz trumpeter and singer Chet Baker was born in Yale, Oklahoma, in 1929. He rose to stardom in the 1950s with Gerry Mulligan’s quartet and then as a bandleader, but encountered personal and professional difficulties after developing a heroin addiction. In 1988 Baker was in the midst of a late-career resurgence when he fell from an Amsterdam hotel window to his death.
Chesney Henry “Chet” Baker Jr. was born on December 23, 1929, in Yale, Oklahoma, and moved to the Los Angeles area with his family at age 10. The son of musically inclined parents, he sang in church choirs and tried his hand at trombone before turning to trumpet at age 13.
Baker dropped out of school at 16 to join the Army, and played in bands during his two stints in the armed forces as well as San Francisco jazz clubs while he was stationed in that city. In between, he was turned on to the music of Miles Davis and also became involved in the Los Angeles jazz scene.
Baker moved to Europe in 1959, ultimately settling in Italy, where he appeared as “Chet l’americano” in musical comedy Howlers of the Dock (1960). However, his continued drug use landed him repeatedly in legal trouble, with arrests in Italy, England and West Germany, the last of which resulted in his deportation to the United States in 1964. Upon his return, Baker recorded five records over a three-day period, but subsequent recording efforts were panned by critics. In July 1966, he endured a brutal beating by drug dealers that severely damaged his teeth and left him unable to play the trumpet properly for years.
Baker gradually regained his skills, with Dizzy Gillespe helping to set him on the comeback trail by arranging a concert at New York City’s Half Note club in 1973 followed by a reunion show with Gerry Mulligan at Carnegie Hall the next year. He returned to Europe in 1975, where he regularly performed and recorded despite essentially living as a nomad. Although years of hard living had withered his youthful voice and looks, many considered his output from this period to be among the best of his career.
Just weeks after delivering a lauded performance with the NDR Big Band and Hannover Radio Orchestra, Chet Baker was found dead outside his Amsterdam hotel in the early hours of May 13, 1988. His second-floor room window was open and drugs were found in his system, although it was never known whether his death was accidental or not.
In subsequent years, the release of Baker’s unfinished memoirs, As Though I Had Wings (1997) and James Gavin’s Deep in a Dream: The Long Night of Chet Baker (2002), provided details of the jazz icon’s troubled but memorable life and career. In March 2016 the Chet Baker biopic Born to Be Blue was released, starring Ethan Hawke in the role of the troubled jazz man.

Joseph Frederick was 18 when he unveiled the 14-foot paper sign on a public sidewalk outside his Juneau, Alaska, high school in 2002.
Principal Deborah Morse confiscated it and suspended Frederick. He sued, taking his case all the way to the nation’s highest court.
The justices ruled 6-3 that Frederick’s free speech rights were not violated by his suspension over what the majority’s written opinion called a “sophomoric” banner.

U-S President Bill Clinton is shaken but safe after experiencing a rocky ride through a thunderstorm on the Presidential plane Air Force One.
Air Force One departed from New Mexico on Tuesday night when it hit heavy turbulence flying over Texas.
President Clinton was on his way to South Carolina to tour the ruins of a church burned to the ground in a spate of arson attacks.
President Clinton left New Mexico on Air Force One, unaware of the violent thunderstorm awaiting him over the Texas skies.
The Presidential plane departed Albuquerque on Tuesday night and was cruising at 33,000 feet when it suddenly hit a bank of thunderstorms.
The pilot climbed to 37,000 feet to escape the storms but the plane was still rocked by heavy turbulence.
Inside the plane Mexican dishes that were about to be served ended on the floor, and plates and glasses shattered.
The president, however, was not injured and answered reporters’ questions about his trip to South Carolina.
Q: Could you give us an idea on what you are going to say in the church tomorrow?
A: I’m going to say it tomorrow. You know what I am going say, I’m going to say what I’ve been saying about this. I’m encouraged by the rebuilding they are doing and I want to reaffirm to everybody in this country that we are going to keep working until we get to the bottom of all these cases.
SUPER CAPTION: Bill Clinton, President of the United States
The plane landed safely in Charleston in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
