The Atheist Experience 21.31 for August 6, 2017 with Matt Dillahunty and John Iacoletti.

Call the show on Sundays 4:00-6:00pm CDT: 1-512-686-0279

We welcome your comments on the open blog thread for this show.

YouTube comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we’ve tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of YouTube comment sections, in our experience.

We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are “officially” associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don’t actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.

The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Excerpt of original. Uses a lively jingle, stock footage of northern snow scenes, and quick cuts of everything you can find in Florida. This is the ultimate in packing every aspect of Florida into a single film. It begins with a sequence of old photos of famous visitors to Florida, then proceeds to take the genre to the limit. Produced by A&R Films.

Life is Good for Anchorage Volunteers

“It’s a chance for us to give back to those who may need, you know,” Jennifer Miller says, as she twirls a cellophane sandwich bag full of handmade peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. She finishes with a twist tie. “How good is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? The first United Methodist Church on ninth Avenue, is where Jennifer and other people volunteer to put together sandwiches once a month for The Brother Francis Shelter.

Since 1982, the local Brother Francis Shelter, a program of the local Catholic Social Services organization, on 3rd Ave., provides a place for people to stay, and also a meal, for people who are experiencing homelessness. According to Catholic Social Services, in 2018, it provided a place to stay and meals for 2, 600 men and women without a home. To help out, people here in Anchorage, gladly step up to take care of the need. and get good in return.

Janine Lulay, a volunteer at St. Francis House food pantry, thinks the food is filling a need but she sees more good. “Sometimes, I wonder if we are helping them, or they are giving an opportunity for us to give back.” The food pantry is another CSS program started in 1962, that provides food to local Anchorage residence Who are experiencing food insecurity. Once a month, clients who are in need of an emergency 2-3 day supply of food, can go in to their neatly arranged store and shop.

If your interested in volunteering to make sandwiches on the first Wednesday each month, you can contact the first United Methodist Church Monday through Friday 9 AM to 2 PM at 907–272-2112, or go to the website www.firstumcanchorage.org. To volunteer at the food pantry, their website is www.css.alaska.org and click on the Get Involved tab. If you’re also in need of their programs you will find information there as well.

You Been So Good – The Gospel Imperials ,”Heaven”

The CD begins with the live recording of “You Been So Good.” Mr. Holman seems to be at his best while singing a ballad and this song is no exception. Some may compare the vocals on this song to The Cantons. However, any similarities are strictly coincidental. For, The Gospel Imperials have a sound that is certainly unique and is in no way an attempt to mimic another group.

“See My Way Through” is the next song on this CD. This mid-tempo song will have you tapping your feet and moving your head from side to side. The background harmony on this song is one of the best. The instrumentation is just right. It is safe to say that on all of the songs the musicians never overpower the vocals.

The next song is “Send It On Down.” Yes, this song has been recorded by numerous artists. The Gospel Imperials has just updated the arrangement and added, what we describe as, that Huntsville, Alabama, touch to it. Meaning, it has a down home feel to it. Very little instrumentation, with drums that appear to resemble foot tapping in that “ole wooden church.”

“I Know I’ve Been Born Again” is another ballad. It is followed by “I’ll Be Free” and “You Brought Me.” The next song is “Tis The Old Ship Of Zion.” No, this is not the Jubes’ version of this song. One would have to admit, however, that there are resemblances to the Jubes. This is another song that showcases the background harmony. Now, this one will remind you of gospel quartet songs from the 60s and 70s.

The eighth song on the CD is “Do You Know Him.” This is an updated version to a very traditional gospel song. This is another song that really showcases all of the vocal talents of the group. The guys have added little variations to the lyrics and an upbeat tempo to make this song their own. This one should get plenty of airplay.

“Heaven (I Want To See Him)” is the title track. This is the song “Oh, I Want To See Him.” It was most recently recorded by Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s. In this instance, The Gospel Imperials have added to the lyrics in a way that does not take away from the well know lyrics, but at the same time focuses on Heaven. The original lyrics to this song do not contain the word Heaven. Of course, there is no disputing that Heaven is the place this song references. So, The Gospel Imperials have just made it clear for all that Heaven is the place where we will see Him.

The final track is “Sign Me Up.” This song has a country music arrangement to it. You may think that you are hearing the steel guitar on this one. This is another song that should get much airplay on gospel and country music stations. – Gloryland Gospel Music.

Celebrating Kansas City Gospel Wonders 42nd Anniversary-Saturday, September 13th 2014- 6841 Sni-A-Bar Rd. Kansas City, Missouri 64129, Rev. B.G. Roberson, Pastor

The word tell us we are all witness for Christ
Matthew 28:19-20. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

So I thought I’ll post this video to tell the people about our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ in song.

Psalm 13 King James Version (KJV)

13 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Romans 5:8King James Version (KJV)

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
