Recorded Oct 9 2005 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL

Originally founded by the late David L. Dickerson in 1959, The Country Boys were originally known as The Sensational Gospelaires of Deatsville, Al. After the departure of original frontman (Dickerson’s brother), Rev. Mack H. Parker, the (then teenage) Rev. Ellis assumed lead duties with complimentary tenor (the late) G.G. Bowen. As the group continued to evolve, the name change to The Country Boys of Alabama eventually occurred. Today, Rev. Ellis and his brother, Greg, sing the majority of the lead vocals. Currently, Rev. Ellis pastors the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. The Group is especially known for its outstanding harmonization and for its riveting live performances. Rev. Ellis and the Country Boys have performed and recorded with the likes of Harvey Watkins, Jr, the Williams Brothers, and the Five Blind Boys of Alabama. The group’s hits include “In Times Like These”, “Glad I Learned How to Lean”, “Give God a Chance”,”They Call Him Jesus”, and “Lord You’ve Been Good to Me”.
