  1. I have been trying to remember the name of that series for decades, doing searches for 1Z2Z and ""Now the queen's declared that she won't let Miss Reader go / Until she's taught the queen to make imaginations grow". Today I finally found one page that had a transcript of this episode and linked to this video (sparked by working on another video project that has people in purple wigs that reminded me of this). For some reason, the last of these I saw was "Reverse the Curse" still getting play on PBS, but can't remember how recent that was. (Star Lore's trappings may well have been my first exposure to science fiction and sparked my interest in computers.)

    DVDs, please!

  2. I wish that there was a network that airs only OLD SKOOL PBS shows like this one, and I-SLAND Treasure, STORYLORDS, Square One TV, Shining Time Station, The Letter People, Long Ago and Far away, The Book Bird, Read It, Cover to Cover, Once Upon A Time, Newton's Apple, Owl-TV, Today's Special, Reading Rainbow, Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego, ECT, ECT, ECT.

  3. @todd2k, I would have to agree with you. Because I remember in my Kindergarten class, the kindergarten teacher would have us sit down on the floor. She would turn on the tv. and "Once Upon A Time" would be on. The Librairian would read that day's story, after She was done she would hand the witch the book. and the witch would take a step to one side. She would look at the book. and look up. She would ask Questions and pause waiting for an answer. We would answer her.

  4. Thank you so much for posting this. I haven't seen this show for 29 years. I used to watch this in second grade in Lincoln Nebraska.

  6. I just love that poem about bears, I remember whrn i visited a zoo, i saw a grizzlty bear that was stuck in a tree, and it was having trouble getting out of that tree, until it banged it's paw on the tree, until it got hiself unstuck of that tree, so i guess that bear never gave up, because he was determened to get out of that tree, I think that us, humans should learn a lesson from that grizzly bear, because he never gave up, and got out of that tree.
