– Fifty years ago this week, four young girls — Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, Cynthia Wesley and Addie Mae Collins — were killed when the Ku Klux Klan bombed the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The bombing came less than a month after the landmark March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Hundreds gathered in the nation’s capital last week to honor their memory when lawmakers posthumously awarded the girls the Congressional Gold Medal. We’re joined by Addie Mae’s sister, Sarah Collins Rudolph, who is often referred to as the bombing’s “fifth victim.” Just 12 years old when the church was attacked, Collins Rudolph was hit with shards of glass, lost an eye and was hospitalized for months. Today, she continues to live in Birmingham, suffering from the physical, mental and emotional effects of the bombing. She says she has yet to receive any compensation.

  1. This woman is a survivor of a domestic terrorist attack!! She has to support herself by working as a maid in the country that gave her no protection! God Bless America!

  2. Why do they still say "the KKK did it"……… the guy who did it admitted he was Jewish Israeli and it was to start race war, and they admitted to killing JFK right after this bombing………… and killing Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy right after that. ….. they KKK doesnt bomb churches.

  3. ONLY EIGHT MINUTES ? THIS WEALTH OF INFORMATION SHOULD BE GIVEN ATLEAST 4-8 HOURS OR UNTIL THE ELDER COULD NOT SPEAK OR REMEMBER ANYMORE. I AM SORRY THIS TYPE OF BULLSHIT HAPPENED THEN AND IS STIL HAPPENING TODAY. FUCK ALL RACISTS SHIT HEADS

  4. …and now in 2016 the KKK supports Trump and sad fact is he has a chance of winning the election and becoming the POTUS, I am so sad.

  5. she shouldnt have to explain herself. it is common sense to compensate her. They expect blacks endure whatever and accept an apology like we give a care about that

  6. that was so fuck about remember that day still house about go church some place Sunday school my mother say still house listing music Jackie Wilson James Brown etta James Chuck berry ms Brown rest in peace Martin Luther King Jr talk about day my father or move to Indianapolis next day uncle Kevin uncle Aaron uncle lebron aunt Ariana aunt Mary Kay aunt georgia aunt Ashley and grandparents Trayvon and ebony

  7. This woman did not just suffer from partial blindness, shrapnel, and post traumatic stress. She had brain injuries from the shock wave, just like soldiers get from IED attacks; because she describes having uncharacteristic difficulty in her studies following the bombing. I think she also suffers still from chronic dryness and irritation in her left eye because she is constantly blinking her left eye.

  8. Ok look iam not color but all white is not the same some are different and some are mean so u can tell your kids what white people did but u have to tell them not all white are the same some are nice and i hate what white people did and iam white and we are the same .are skin does not matter we should all have freedom and everyone should not be a slave and we should not figth but we can use words to solve are Problems
And this is coming from a 10 year old and if u read this and hate color people then maybe think about how life would be if white people were the slave and maybe that can change your mind and dont hurt but u have to use words

  9. black people reading this. never forget what white people did to us. make a note of it. teach your children what they did and continue to do to us. never let a white person tell you to forget history they did to us and remember the history they made for themselves.
forgiveness is what makes you forget they kill one of us every 28 hours.
teach your kids their african history, never forget, then we can make all appropriate actions.

  10. black people need to quit listening to white people and talking about forgetting and forgiveness. they been doing the same thing for 500 years and all we do is forgive and forget. once we quit forgetting and tally up all they've done to us, then we'll come to our senses and take all appropriate actions.
